John English was a driving force in the early days of the Custom Shop and helped define the creative environment that continues in the shop today. John’s contributions and techniques will continue to live on in the instruments that the world-renowned Fender Custom Shop produces. The instruments that John built in the Fender Custom Shop are some of the bests. This rare Stealth Esquire is quite the guitar and is one of John’s highly sought-after masterpieces. John flirted with a concept that everybody and their neighbor thought of when seeing the one pickup Esquire… hidden pickups. This guitar is in 100% original condition, no modifications, and played for only minutes. Features the original strings. Collector has been sole owner. This guitar is in excellent, like new condition, there is no remarkable wear other than the relic that was applied in a skilled way. One of the lightest guitars we have seen. The body is a super light and resonant single piece of ash that fits a beautiful reliced maple neck, 7.25 radius, thick U-profile that is extremely comfortable. Incredible relicing job on the body showing dings, dents, and markings. All chrome and metal hardware are nicely reliced with unbelievable patina. Fretboard shows some cool relicing while the back of the neck shows some beautiful flame and reliced down to the wood, nice and smooth. No fretware. Did we mention that this Stealth Esquire has not two, but three pickups? The bridge pickup sounds really good with enough mids that makes you think of pickups in Blackguard Telecasters. The middle and neck pickups are extraordinary. They compete to any other Strat pickups, but slightly fuller. All pickups are John English hand wound single coils. All three pickups are working off a 5-way switch. Matching pot codes stamped “CTS 0544” denoting they are manufactured by CTS dating on the 44th week of 2005. Neck plate has John’s last name engraved ENGLISH, pretty awesome. Serial number stamped on the bridge plate JE0006. John’s last name is also signed in the body neck cavity ENGLISH. This Stealth Esquire comes with its original Black Tolex with black plush interior and embroidered Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition case with keys in excellent condition. Certificate of Authenticity dated “07/11/06” hand signed by the Master himself, John English. Vintage style guitar strap, unopened case candy to include manual, ashtray bridge cover, cable, Custom Shop sticker and polishing cloth. Made in USA.
