1982 Fender Blackguard Telecaster 1952 Reissue. Made in Fullerton, CA. USA. SERIAL NUMBER: 2209. COLOR: Butterscotch Blonde Nitrocellulose Finish. WEIGHT: 7lbs. 14.6 ounces (3kg/590g). In 1982 Fender introduced the idea of recreating vintage guitars, otherwise known as American Vintage Reissues (AVRI). Between 1982 and 1984 they produced these guitars in their Fullerton, California shop using exact tooling and machinery methods as guitars that were produced in the 1950’s and 1960’s, every guitar was handmade. The Fullerton reissues are regarded as the best guitars Fender manufactured since the 50’s and 60’s. This is an early 1982 Fender Blackguard Telecaster which is now vintage being 40 years old. This guitar is in excellent vintage condition, 100% original, no modifications. Original strings are still on this Blackguard. Think of this guitar being in a time capsule. No scratches, dings, or dents. Guitar has some light marks on the back of the body, hard to notice, mentioned for clarity. Notice the two filled Dow holes on the back of the body, if you look closely, you can see some finishing imperfections when they were finishing the ash body with the beautiful Butterscotch Blonde Nitrocellulose finish. This was normal with the early reissues. This Blackguard is lightweight which is a nice feature. All chrome hardware is in like new condition, no pitting. Some light patina to the slotted screws, jack cup, and tuners. Matching pot codes read: 1378131, denoting CTS as the manufacturer dated the 31st week of 1981. Original CRL 1452 3-way switch. Notice the plastic wires connecting the pickups, jack, and switch. This is because the guitar was manufactured before Fender introduced the cloth wiring concept, pretty cool. The maple flamed-figure neck is exquisite. The neck is in perfect condition, 7.25 radius, borderline C to D neck shape. One small finish blemish that is unnoticeable on the side of the headstock, mentioned for clarity. Neck features stamped date: 4-26-82 along with an ink stamp of VINTAGE on the butt. Body cavity also has an ink stamp of VINTAGE along with a Fender serial number sticker 2209. This incredible Fullerton Blackguard comes with its original case in particularly good vintage condition with keys, Certificate of Authenticity dated April 27, 1982, additional 6 saddle bridge, ashtray bridge cover, guitar strap and cord. In addition, we are including an original 1982 Fender catalog presenting the Fullerton 52 Blackguard as well as a copy of Nacho Banos’s book: The Blackguard Book with the serial number matching to the guitar, # 2209, sealed and unopened. Please note the book in the photo is another copy as we are not opening the actual sealed book. This 412-page book shows every detail on how Blackguards were made between 1950-1954 and considered the encyclopedia of knowledge on Blackguards Telecasters.
