Description
(1892 – 1971) German general in the Wehrmacht, a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. Assigned to the Eastern Front on 1 May 1942 and placed in command of the 102nd Infantry Division. Shortly after his promotion to Generalleutnant, Friessner served as commander of the XXIII Corps. He briefly held command of Army Group North before being sent to the southern front to command Army Group South. Fine S.P., a postcard photograph showing him in uniform, 3.5 x 5.5 b/w, signed on the face adding rank, and additionally adding his position as 'High Commander of Heersgruppe South in Hungary (1944)' on verso. Fine.
