Description
(1892 - 1971) German general on the Eastern Front during World War II, a recipient of the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves, finally sacked in 1944 due to his inability to halt a four-month Soviet offensive from Malinovsky's Second Ukrainian Front. Good pair of signed items, includes: postwar S.P., 4.75 x 5.75 in. b/w, a bust portrait of Friessner in uniform, wearing his Knights Cross. He signs across the chest in blue ink, adding rank. Fine. WITH: T.L.S. on his postwar letterhead, 1p. 4to., Bad Reichenhall, Sept. 12, 1962, to a researcher in German, expressing willingness to answer questions and requests to communicate in German. Light mailing folds, else fine.
