James Longstreet ALS Boldly Signed & Written from New Orleans
1p, Single Page ALS, tipped into a larger sheet, 7.5" x 4.875", dated May 8th, 1869. Signed in full as “James Longstreet" on the verso. The signature is dark and bold. With some missing letters cut in order to fit into the tipped-in sheet. Minor toning and staining, with dealer's notes in pencil on verso.
James Longstreet (1821-1904) was one of the foremost Confederate generals of the American Civil War and the principal subordinate to General Robert E. Lee, who called him his "Old War Horse".
