Description
EDGEFIELD, SOUTH CAROLINA STONEWARE JUG, alkaline-glazed, approximately three-gallon capacity, bold ovoid form with collared mouth and applied strap handle. Intentional "claw marks" down one side which are glazed over. Attributed to Stoney Bluff, possibly by Dave "the Slave" Drake. Circa 1850. 14 3/8" HOA.
