TEXTILE: Pieced quilt of two shades of brown twill-woven wool, c. 1840-1890, silk, wool, cotton pieced with variously colored silk velvet pinwheels, velvets are in generally dark colors, including burgundy, brown, and blue, pieced blocks alternate with plain blocks, the plain blocks are quilted with a variety of floral and other decorative patterns, solid brown border is quilted with a chain pattern, the quilting is 8-9 stitches per inch and are tan cotton, backing is brown cotton, edges are bound with striped woven "Trenton" tape, good condition considering age and use, with break in one piece of velvet along the fold line, possibly other small damages, sold as is, 110" l. x 95" w. [PROVENANCE: A Quaker quilt from the Burr family.]
