TEXTILE: Quilted petticoat, c. 1840-1860, silk, cotton, wool, woman's quilted petticoat, made of black silk/merino, backed with brown cotton cambric and brown calico near the waist, petticoat is quilted with a feather design around the border and vertical lines above the border to the waist, brown cotton waistband, with one black thermoplastic button molded with a design of a bird, the hem edge is bound with black wool, thick wadding, probably of wool, condition is very good with minor wear consistent with age, 39" l.
