Calvin Coolidge TLS Following Appointment of U.S. Ambassador to Mexico
1p typed, measuring 7" x 9", Washington, D.C., dated September 22, 1927. Signed "Calvin Coolidge" and addressed to Hon. Edward N. Hurley of the U.S. Shipping Board. Coolidge responds to Hurley's acknowledgment of the appointment of Dwight Morrow as ambassador to Mexico. Written on White House stationery, the letter has flattened mail folds and light uneven toning. Large and bold signature.
In full:
"September 22, 1927
Dear Mr. Hurley:
I have your telegram of the 21st and appreciate your wiring me of your pleasure at the appointment of Mr. Morrow.
Come in to see me when you come to Washington.
Very truly yours,

Dwight Morrow (1873-1931) served as the United States Ambassador to Mexico from 1927-1930 and was most well-known for his role as mediator during the Cristero War (1926-1929) in which conflict ensued between the more secular Mexican government and Catholic Church.
