Description
Southwestern USA, Arizona and New Mexico, Hopi Peoples, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A fine pottery jar enveloped in a pale orange pigment with black and brown painted decoration adorning the exterior. Sitting upon a planar base, the impressive vessel displays a wide hip with a slanted shoulder, a brief neck, and a flared, circular rim above a deep basin. A pattern of alternating bull motifs and avian creatures - perhaps depicting a parrot or a rain bird - embellishes the exterior walls. Size: 8.9" Diameter x 6.4" H (22.6 cm x 16.3 cm)
