Description
A Jaina standing male warrior figure holding what might be a spear fragment in both hands. The figure wears a pendant consisting of two large, round pectoral plates. The animal headdress appears to have the features of a deer. The facial scarification and costuming indicates the figure is a man of importance. Buff ceramic with traces of pigments. Late Classic, 600 CE to 900 CE. Mexico. With mount: 11" x 4 1/2".Condition: Good, with possible repaired break on the proper left arm and possibly torso. Custom mount included.Provenance: From the Boeckman Collection. Dallas, Texas. Acquired 6/22/1981. From the collection of Merrill Rueppel.
