Description
A Jaina mold-made standing white clay female figure wearing a robe that is tied at the waist, but drapes down to the top of the feet. The figure wears a plain cylindrical-shaped headdress which extends behind the large round earspools. There are traces of Maya blue on the lower sections of the robe. Buff ceramic with traces of polychrome. 600 CE to 900 CE. Jaina Island, Mexico. 7 1/2" x 3 1/2".Condition: Very good, with no apparent breaks or repairs. Traces of Maya blue on the robe.Provenance: From the Boeckman Collection. Dallas, Texas. Acquired 3/16/1984. From the collection of Peter Wray. Scottsdale, Arizona.
