Phaedrus was a 1st-century fabulist and Roman poet known for his five books of verse fables. Many of his tales are adaptions of Aesops famous tales, but he does include his own new stories as well. One major difference between Aesop and Phaedrus, however, is Phaedruss treatment of the moral. Phaedrus emphasized the moral of the story much more than Aesop did.
This edition is the collected works of Phaedrus includes a life of Phaedrus by Johannes Scheffer, passages from Senecas tragedy on Phaedrus, and copper engraved frontis and 14 vignettes by Durand and Fessard.
