Description
DESCRIPTION: Two Civil War discharge certificates of Samuel Duncan of Perry County, Pennsylvania. The first dated December 31, 1863 and given at Mossy Creek, Tennessee discharging Duncan as a farrier of Captain John M. Porter, Company C, 9th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Cavalry and signed off by Lieut. L.A. Crinnian. The second dated July 18, 1865 and given at Lexington, North Carolina discharging Duncan as a private of Captain Nathan W. Horton, Company C, 9th Regiment, Pennsylvania Veteran Cavalry at the end of the war. Also includes a note from the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions and a clipped newspaper obituary for Duncan. Duncan was born on October 9, 1837 near Blain, Pennsylvania and died at the age of 85 on October 9, 1923.
MEASUREMENTS: Each discharge 10" x 8-1/2".
CONDITION: Curled with fold marks overall, corner creases, and light edge wear. Uniform toning.
