Incredible printed textile survival find from the 1860s - 1880s or a little earlier. This beautiful single layer printed in light mauve and beige Toile linen bedspread has no backing, with three sides of 7-1/2” gathered ruffle that wrap around and accent the bedspread. Machine stitched and hand sewn.
Printed tole is adorned with large urns, cornucopia filled with fruit and flowers, winged cupids, goats, sitting sphinx, fountains with mythological head medallions, eagles, swans, children with oxen, so much going on.

Deaccession from the Strong Museum in upstate New York and still retaining its original museum sewn in fabric catalog numbered identification tag.

CONDITION
In good condition and with no damage, no holes, no repairs, fading areas in one area as shown in photos, numerous scattering of small oxidation storage brown spots, streaks of brown water stains and yellow discoloration on fold marks on back from decades of non use and storage. These spots always disappear with their first careful soaking. Fabric is sturdy and strong for use or for any project with no major flaws noted.
