Iron Hilted Imported Cavalry Saber,

Iron hilt with plain langets, reverse 'P' knuckle bow with slot at the top connecting to a dove's head pommel with backstrap, ray skin covered grip with iron wire wrapping; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and single wide fuller, three-quarters of the blade with etched foliate decoration with 'A.W. Spies' near the hilt, leather washer at top of blade; iron scabbard with two suspension rings.
Blade lg. 29, overall lg. 33 1/2 in.

Hilt toned deep gray, ray skin has minor wear, may be re-peened; blade is bright with minimal spots of scattered light gray toning; scabbard toned to brown and has several dents on the inboard side at the tip; upper split ring is missing a portion of one side, the lower ring is a replacement.
