Description
An antique Persian ceremonial mace made of steel. Lade Qajar dynasty, before 1925. Long cylindrical shaft with knob pommel, bell shaped collar, and figural horned devils head club. The Shiites, who look upon Ali as the legitimate succesor of the Prophet and on Husain as a saint and martyr, carry the mace in the region of Tabriz on the anniversary of Husains death.
