Description
Chalice is entirely in silver and gilt silver, executed by goldsmiths Berger and Nesme manufacturers of church silverware in Lyon whose hallmark was stamped around 1889. This chalice has an overflowing circular foot, with a jump, the lower part is embellished a frieze spotted and chiseled with clovers and pearl friezes. Over the entire surface of the terrace, a chiseled ornament is depicted in the form of intertwined hearts and stylized leaves. A screwed pattée cross also decorates the terrace. The foot is surmounted by a tubular rod fitted with a toric knot supporting a slightly conical cut. These elements of the chalice retain the same ornamentation as the base. For more contrast, the cup has been partially gilded. 950/1000 silver, Minerva hallmarks on the cup and on the foot. Hallmarks Master Goldsmith
