Description
In one binder, many with typed or handwritten full or partial transcriptions, some with written content narratives or comments, some soldier research, several with patriotic letterhead, includes an archive of approx. 20 letters from Manlius Comey (Woodville Mass, now Hopkinton), mostly to his sister Mary, together with a signed permission letter from a mother for her son to join the army (1863), and an Adams Express package receipt for a package sent to Comey in Wash. DC.
The letters in varying sizes, some in multiple pages, 21 accompanied by their original transmittal cover, varied subject matter, binder measures 12.5x10in., in generally good condition with expected wear and varying degrees of issues given age and use.
Provenance: Part of a civil war collection of a Sullivan County, NY gentleman 90 years young. The collection spans 50 years and was acquired from shows, dealers and private collections throughout the east coast and midwest.
