Description: Large Pre-Columbian Costa Rica Nicoya Culture Polychrome Tripod Effigy Pottery Vessel. Type / Medium: Tempered terracotta pottery effigy jar / vessel. Decoration: Very nice polychrome vessel decorated with a monkey-like effigy figure appendage to front body of jar; also with engraved designs throughout. Originally decorated with tripod legs that are now missing. Period / Date: Pre-Columbian Late Period VI, Circa. 1200-1400 AD. Geography: Guanacaste, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica. Culture: Pre-Columbian Nicoya Culture Approx. Dimensions: 8" Diameter x 11" H Condition:Tripod legs missing, otherwise in very good condition. Stands freely upright, stable.
