Description

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine trio of pottery figures - 2 female and 1 male - all adorned with red and white slip and showcasing Jalisco sheepfaces with elongated heads, pointed ears, ovoid eyes, protruding noses, and petite mouths. Both wearing skirts, earspools, and headdresses, the 2 females are shown seated: one with feet to the side and the other kneeling. Alternatively, the male stands atop thick legs and wears fabric draped across his body from his left shoulder. Size of largest: 3.1" W x 5.3" H (7.9 cm x 13.5 cm)

Condition

Larger female repaired with break line just barely visible. Other female has restoration to ends of arms and repair to right earspool, as well as chipping to head, left ear, and left earspool. All have expected surface wear. Otherwise, male is intact, and all are very nice with great remaining pigments and rich earthen deposits.
