Inscription: At the lower part signed in the printing plate: "Pet. Schenk exc. Amst C. P.". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Yperen, in Vlaanderen, tuschen Ryssel en Dixmuyden behoorende heden onder de Fransche".
Date: c. 1712
Description: Bird's eye view of Ypres, plan of the fortress. Peter Schenk the Elder was a German engraver and cartographer from Elberfeld, today part of Wuppertal. Around 1684 he moved to Amsterdam and became a pupil of Gerard Valck, specialising in mezzotint; he travelled to Leipzig and Berlin. Until his death in 1718/19 he published numerous maps and pictures.

Condition
Good condition. The sheet is slightly browned and creased. The decorative sheet makes a very good impression.
