Inscription: The copper engraving was produced in red colour, which was used only rarely and for special occasions, especially in the 18th century. Inscribed below the image in Dutch and Latin: "Meenen, leggende in Wals Vlaanderen aen de Lisse...". Signed and inscribed in the plate: "Pet. Schenk exc. Amst C. P.".
Date: c. 1710
Description: Peter Schenk the Elder was a German engraver and cartographer from Elberfeld, now part of Wuppertal. Around 1684 he moved to Amsterdam and became a pupil of Gerard Valck, specialising in mezzotint; he travelled to Leipzig and Berlin. Until his death in 1718/19 he published numerous maps and pictures.

Condition
Very good condition. The sheet is slightly discoloured due to its age and occasionally rubbed. The decorative sheet makes a very good impression.
