A handsomely presented business-related ALS written by Henry Clay regarding the particulars of the acquisition of cattle. He writes to Mr. Shepherd, from whom he is purchasing the cattle, specifying his requests for them to be shoed and rings put in their noses, as well as for the employment and payment to a blacksmith, and a man to drive the cattle.

Henry Clay (1777-1852) was a prominent American statesman known for his influential role in 19th-century politics. He served as a lawyer, congressman, senator, and diplomat, leaving an indelible mark on the United States. As the "Great Compromiser," Clay skillfully navigated conflicts and promoted national unity. Advocating for the American System, he championed internal improvements and protective tariffs. Clay's significant contributions include the Missouri Compromise of 1820, which aimed to balance the interests of slave and free states.
