Ca. 1st millennium BC.A stone vessel takes on the distinctive shape of a kettle, featuring a front spout gracefully arched and a corresponding handle at the back. The bulbous body of the vessel rests upon a flat circular base and is adorned with a raised rim, adding to its aesthetic appeal. The central register of the exterior decoration is adorned with a captivating array of intricately carved animal, bird, and vegetal motifs, expertly arranged and framed by decorative bands of linear incisions. This combination of elements reflects the rich iconographic traditions and the harmonious interplay of nature within Bactrian art. Stone vessels were highly prized in Bactria, and their production played a significant role in the artistic and economic landscape of the region. The skilled artisans of Bactria were renowned for their ability to transform stone into vessels of exquisite beauty, often incorporating elaborate designs and meticulous detailing.
