Description
B.C. MILBURN ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, designated three-gallon capacity, tall ovoid form with rounded rim, light incised shoulder ring, and applied arched handles. Well-executed slip-trailed cobalt horizontal dropped flower and leaf below a wavy line and chain decoration on front, the flower and leaf with chain decoration continue on reverse, slip-trailed "3" below one handle. Attributed to Benedict Calvert Milburn (1805-1867), Wilkes Street pottery, Alexandria, VA. 1847-1861. 14 3/8" H, 7 3/4" D rim.

Condition
Very good condition except having a curved horizontal hairline just above base extending from underside and some minor chips to each handle.Â
