Description
Ancient Central Asia, northwestern Iran, province of West Azerbaijan, Teppe Hasanlu / Hasanlu Tepe, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A fascinating and rare grayware beaker with a unique form of a hollow, narrow foot, and a broad bowl. The exterior is adorned with a raised zigzag band that travels around the body of the bowl, with incised striations above and below, as well as encircling the tapering foot. Size: 9.7" Diameter x 7" H (24.6 cm x 17.8 cm)

Provenance: Private Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA collection, via inheritance; Leota Furlong Agett Persian Pottery collection, acquired in Tehran, Iran in the early 1960s

Professionally repaired and restored; all done very well and difficult to notice. Some light nicks and abrasions to surface with a few minor chips in areas, all commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent presentation with nice remaining detail.
