Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Mesa Verde region, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 900 to 1300 CE. A splendid and quite sizable pottery bowl adorned in the Mesa Verde black-on-white tradition with a complex design on the interior and the exterior left bare. Displaying a hemispherical form, the vessel is carefully hand-painted with checkered, dotted, geometric, and lattice motifs on the interior basin. Note the 2 ancient drill holes on the side of the wall - evidence of prehistoric repair suggesting that this was once a highly treasured item to its Anasazi owner! Size: 10.9" W x 5" H (27.7 cm x 12.7 cm)

Condition
Two prehistoric drill holes for ancient restoring of fissure. Professionally repaired and restored with some repainting over break lines, as well as nicks and abrasions to surface in areas. Otherwise, nice presentation with great imagery. Old collection number inscribed on underside of base.
