RARE EARLY CASED SET OF WORLD WAR II U.S. NAVY RECOGNITION/TEACHING MODELS

Miniature die cast metal models on paddle-shaped navy blue painted wooden bases, sometimes referred to as "Ships on Sticks". Includes eight models of U.S. ships, all with impressed identifications on sides, and type, class and 1"-110' scale identifications on bases. Believed to be a first edition set produced by Comet Metal Products Co. Contained in a stained wood case marked on underside "Tray & Mounts Created By Kay Displays, Inc. Grand Rapids, Michigan [...]".
Case height 2.25". Length 12.5". Width 10.5".

Case cover a replacement. Models may not all be original to each other. Areas of wear, particularly to bases.
