Description
WILLIAM CAFE, ENGLISH GEORGE II STERLING SILVER CANDLE SNUFFER, hinged scissors form with scrolled handles and raised on three short feet, blades with inlaid steel/iron interior edges having an applied shaped snuffer box and flat panel to one side. Interior of snuffer box with "WC" maker's mark for William Cafe and three hallmarks of a lion passant for sterling fineness, a crowned leopard's head city mark for London, and a "B" date mark for 1757, snuffer flat panel also with "WC" maker's mark and lion passant hallmark. Total weight including non-silver components: 4.050 ozt. Circa 1757. 5 3/4" LOA.

Condition
Good visual condition with some wear, surface scratches, nicks, denting, and pitting, one handle finger hole out of round causing them not to close completely, some repairs including to handles, foot at tip of blades previously replaced, steel/iron blade edges with areas of corrosion.
