Description
An unsigned watercolor of a farmland scene that measures 11" x 14" and comes mounted on paper board (15" x 19"), but unframed. The work is in good condition. Fear of the unknown… could this be an Edmund Darch Lewis landscape or other accomplished American painter? Here is a mystery watercolor that is mounted on paper board. What we know is there are no markings and no signature on front or back but still a beauty - not the usual Providence School suspects - Burleigh, O'Leary, Dyer or Drown. What I do know is excellently rendered gouache watercolor very much like the detailed work of Lewis when he did his Narragansett Bay scenes in the 1890’s. Whoever the artist, the painting is a beautiful late 19th century or early 20th century pastoral landscape.
Condition
