Item Details
Description
Indo-Persian arm band known as a Bazu band with etched decoration all over in bands of script and decoration. Retaining four original buckles. Size 12 1/2" L x 3 1/4" W

These armguards served both practical and decorative purposes. They were typically made of metal, often brass or steel, and adorned with intricate designs, including engravings, inlays and gemstones. Bazu bands were worn on the forearm to protect it from blows during combat, particularly in hand-to-hand combat situations. In addition to providing protection, Bazu bands were also status symbols, indicating the wealth and social standing of the wearer. Elaborate designs and expensive materials were often used to create these armguards, making them prized possessions of nobles, warriors, and royalty.
