Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Inuit / Yupik, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A cotton doll with a walrus ivory face, dressed in a warm fur parka and felt boots with leather soles. The ivory face panel is painted with large eyelashes and red lips. The hood, coat, and boots are made from a variety of furs: seal, rabbit, and possibly otter / mink. Dolls made in the traditional clothing of Native Alaskans were popular souvenirs and showcased the diversity of Arctic animals that made life possible in the region for thousands of years. Size: 10" L x 4" W (25.4 cm x 10.2 cm)
