Description
This antique map, created by I. Tirion around 1755 in Amsterdam, provides a glimpse into Colonial America and Canada during the French and Indian War era. One of its most notable features is the attempt to illustrate the disputed territory between British claims (dotted lines) and French claims (dashed lines) from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River. The map also highlights colonial settlements, remote forts, native villages, the six Iroquois nations, rivers, mountains, and boundaries within Colonial America. Additionally, fictitious islands are depicted in Lake Superior. Hand-colored and copperplate engraved, this map measures 18 x 14 1/2 inches and is presented in excellent condition, with authenticity guaranteed.
