**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes (Paquime) culture, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A hand-built, cream-ground pottery jar of abstract avian form that is decorated with elaborate curvilinear and stippled motifs in black and red pigment. A nubbin head protrudes from the front while a tab-shaped tail extends off the verso, both adorned with personalized features. Included is a convex pottery fragment from another, larger jar showcasing red and black linear motifs. Size (jar): 6.375" L x 5.375" W x 4.375" H (16.2 cm x 13.7 cm x 11.1 cm)

Condition
Circular disc is a fragment as shown and is repaired across center; larger vessel is intact save for chips to rim. Nice preservation to pigment throughout.
