Item Details
Description
A lot of two items. The first being a clamshell guard which would have been part of a smallsword originally. The guard is chased in relief with scenes of battle throughout, possibly depicting events of the Great Turkish War that occurred from 1683-1699. The second item is an iron openwork lockplate for a gun, probably a hunting gun of some sort as there are depictions of hounds amongst foliate motifs. At the right of the of the piece is a face with an angered expression.
Europe, 17th-18th century.
Longest: 7 7/8 in., (20 cm.)
