Description

Antique c1880 Broken Dishes Quilt measuring 73 x 86 inches. It is comprised of 437 squares, 2.75 inches x 2.75 inches, set straight, 19 by 23. There are 219 pieced Broken Dishes blocks and 218 alternating butterscotch print squares. There is an 11.5 inch green print border. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and a brown plaid cotton print reverse. The edge is finished with an applied red cotton solid binding, by machine. It is in good condition with only minor fading in the green print border. This quilt is part of the Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon's Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon was THE authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
