Bartemus Brooks congressional presentation model 1819 Hall flint lock musket, .54 cal., with silver presentation plaque, inscribed By resolve of Congress presented to Bartemus Brooks for his gallantry at the siege of Plattsburgh, a silver shield form plaque on the wrist, engraved B. B. Sept 11th 1814, the top of the receiver inscribed J.H. Hall H. Ferry 1824 US, 32 1/2'' barrel. This is one of seventeen muskets presented to the boys who created their own volunteer company to defend against the British on September 3, 1814.
Condition
Presentation plaque is replaced. Plaque with initials is correct. Stamped "WH" on bottom of stock. 1" crack just behind first barrel band. As expected handling marks.
