American (Pennsylvania), 1854. A quilt featuring nine large appliqués of tulips in vases in red, green and yellow fabric on white ground with dense square-filled feathered wreath and fan stitching, having a border of appliquéd curving green vine with small red and yellow tulips and buds on white ground with triple-stitched diagonal lines and white binding with red interior piping, signed and dated in corner inside border A.L./1854; 80 x 78.25 in.

Provenance: Property from a Cincinnati, OH Collector

Condition

Excellent condition- no fading. Dense stitching- 10-11 per inch. Minor and scattered staining to front and back.
