In fine to very fine condition
This manuscript, written on both sides, is probably a remission with autographed signature and five lines written by the own hand of Maximilian I, devoted to a Count and friend: "Lieber Herr Graf…". In this letter, the names of Pappenheim and Wallenstein are also mention. Albrecht Wenzel Eusebius Wallenstein is here referred to as Duke of Friedland.
The document is in fine to very fine condition. The edges of the solid laid paper are partly soiled with minor blemishes. The sheet was previously folded and smoothed with slight wrinkles at the edges.
Maximilian I. (1573-1651)
Maximilian I was born 1573 in Munich. He was since 1597 Duke of Bavaria and from 1623 Elector of the Holy Roman Empire. He has the country financially rehabilitated through various reforms and made it more efficient. He was also an influential person of the Counter-Reformation and the Catholic Reformation. As such, he contributed to the enforcement of the dominance of the Catholic side in the Thirty Years' War till 1630.
