DESCRIPTION: Olympian Clara M. Schroth athletics medal archive. Medals won in competition for both gymnastic and track and field, as well as several certificates, a 1948 Olympic Games diploma, and a 1974 U.S.A. Gymnastics Hall of Fame induction certificate. Also includes a 50th Anniversary poster for the 1948 London Olympic Games, signatures in print. Medals range from 1942 to 1952, some not dated. Known now as Clara Schroth Lomady, she was born in 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a member of two U.S. Olympic teams, 1948 London, where she won a bronze medal in the women's team competition, and 1952 Helsinki, where she did not medal. At the national level she won 39 Amateur Athletic Union titles, eleven straight on the balance beam and one in track and field, before she retired in 1952. MEASUREMENTS: Various. CONDITION: Certificates have wear to edges, poster and hall of fame are framed with little wear to frames. Boxes for medals with light wear, broken into groups by year.
