attributed to Timothy Tansel, born 1810, Scott County, Kentucky, died 1852, Hendricks County, Indiana, unsigned, horn elaborately decorated with a spread-wing Federal eagle inscribed E Pluribus Un… (artist ran out of room), a soldier in uniform holding a pistol, on horseback, another figure, screw-on cap, nice mellow yellowish patina, 10 in., excellent condition, cap currently stuck (appears to be screw-on but it does not budge), some color variation/stains and wear at and under eagle's banner, other scattered surface wear. Provenance: Wieder Collection; by descent
