The origin of this rare taxidermy of a real hawksbill turtle is the Pacific or the Caribbean and it was dissected in around 1880. The real hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricate) is a representative of the sea turtles, which possesses a maximal length of 90 cm and reaches a weight of not more than 75 kg. The horn of the tanks of these animals overlap each other and represent as real tortoiseshell the most valuable form of the sought-after raw material for the arts and crafts and trinkets. The grown up animals are normally black to dark brown and show yellowish and light brown, sometimes also reddish stains and ligatures.
The piece is in very well preservation. It is slightly dusted. The wiring of the lower side is loose, this is why the abdominal with a view to the filling material is slightly opened. The dimensions are 20 x 60 x 50 cm (height x width x depth). (tm)
