A., 15th Maine Regt.) to his brother, Bolivar Heights, Sept. 11, 1862, complaining about excessive drilling, lack of whiskey, etc.; 2) Samuel Bateman (an invalided soldier returned to his family in Coal Dale, Oh.) to his cousin in the army encamped at Clear Spring, Md., Oct. 7, 1862 (4 pp. 8vo, patriotic stationery and cover) discussing the state of the war and his desire to return to the fight; and 3) David Stephey (Co. A, 7th Regt. Md. Vols., KIA at Petersburg, June 18, 1864) Maryland Heights, March 31, 1863 to a friend in Western Md. (3 pp., patriotic 8vo stationery, stamped cover) mentions picket duty and foraging, "we have some great times here especially when we get out were we can steal something"
