Atlantes on Russian neoclassical bases carrying Slavic revival bowls
Provenance: German private collection
The pair of bowl carrying atlantes was manufactured by the silversmith master Alexander Ilitsch Jaschinow in St. Petersburg between 1795 and 1826. The atlantes stand on Russian neoclassical bases, carrying bowls that are adorned with an open-work rim of Slavic style. The atlantes are hinged to the base with original handmade screws.
Both are marked on the stand and on the bowl with the St. Petersburg city mark, the master’s mark ‘A. ?.’ (Alexander Ilich Jashinov, St. Petersburg, 1795-1826) and the fineness ‘84’. There are assay prongs marks on each stand. The condition is very good. They are each 31.5 cm in height and together weigh approximately 1758 grams. (tm)
