Description
DEUTSCH MARTIN: (1917-2002) Austrian-American Physicist, involved in the Manhattan Project from 1943. A good Autograph Statement Signed, Martin Deutsch, one page, 4to, n.p., n.d. (annotated 22nd January 1954). Deutsch writes his answers to three questions relating to Albert Einstein, in part, '1. Einstein is without doubt the one among living physicists whose work has had the greatest influence on the development of modern physics. 2. Since all of modern atomic physics is unthinkable without Einstein's contribution my very field of work could hardly have existed without his contribution….3. Einstein's name, with those of [Ernest] Rutherford and N.[iels] Bohr is the epitome of physics of the first half of the 20th century, just as [James Clerk] Maxwell and [Michael] Faraday represent classical electromagnetism'. Signed at the conclusion. Neatly annotated at the head in an unidentified hand with the questions Deutsch answers including what place he assigns to Einstein in modern science, what influence he has had on Deutsch's work and what place Einstein occupies in the history of world science?
