Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, north coast, ca. 900 to 1200 CE. Two attractive textile fragments, each mounted in silver-tone frame. First is Chancay/ Chimu with central avian figure with two smaller birds to each side, red fringe beneath. Frame measures 10-1/4" W x 8-1/8" H. Next, also Chancay/ Chimu in the form of a jester, abstract designs surrounding. Size: 5" W x 4.25" H (12.7 cm x 10.8 cm).
Provenance: Ex-Paul and Louise Bernheimer, Cambridge, MA and Laguna Woods, CA, acquired before 1980.
