ENGLISH TRANSFER-PRINTED AMERICAN HISTORICAL CERAMIC ARTICLES, LOT OF FOUR, comprising one tea bowl and saucer decorated with blue stick-spatter and transfer design having an eagle with shield and ribbon reading "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on the interior of both, marked "R. HAMMERSLEY" on the base of saucer, tea bowl has two parallel impressed lines; one unmarked tea bowl with black transfer design of the temperance arms with banner reading "FIRM AS AN OAK"; and one unmarked child's mug with purple transfer design having an eagle with shield on either side and "The Land / of Liberty" opposite the handle. Staffordshire and other areas. 19th century. 2 1/8" to 2 5/8" H, saucer 6 1/16" D.
Good condition overall. Less than expected wear, short hairline crack on rim of saucer, minute flake on rim of tea bowl, hairline crack and several flake on black transfer tea bowl, several flakes on interior rim of child's mug and small hairline crack at base of handle.
