Description

A fine early 19th century needlework sampler. The work of Martha Ridgeway, aged 13 years, dated 1826. The top portion having multiple stitches and multiple sizes of the alphabet. The mid-portion decorated with a saying. The bottom portion using multi-color threads, centered with a basket of flowers, flanked by candles / ornaments and further flanked by urns filled with abundant florals. Sight measurement 14" x 14-3/8". Framed under glass measuring 15.75" x 16". NOTE: some reflection showing in glass.
