With great colors, wonderfully worked borders, and geometric patterns. "Sukey Hobbs Of Sturbridge" is stitched above an interesting poem: "Life swarms with ills, the boldest is afraid, Where then is safety for a tender maid. With conflicts round beset with woes, and man whom least she fears, her worst of foes." This sampler has been professionally mounted and framed, and comes with extensive genealogical information on the Hobbs family. Frame: H 14-1/4" W 13-3/4". Sight: H 11-3/4" W 11-1/4". Condition: Excellent condition, with only some light fading and some very small areas at the top were the fabric has been stretched One thread is cut and free end showing. Very minor. See images. Collection of Ann Fassnacht. Link to high-res photos: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/5goq1m08o62hgn5ofp8ik/h?rlkey=uvvc8wh31fruae9lsovly6yrf&dl=0
